A Pensacola woman was arrested in Miami on an active warrant stemming from a December 2023 car crash, according to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The US Marshals Service in Miami arrested Jasmine West of Pensacola on May 14, 2024, the release said.
According to the release, the arrest comes after a deadly crash on December 30, 2023, in Escambia County.
Reports from the crash note that West, driving a pickup truck going southbound, traveled into the northbound lanes and collided with an SUV at the intersection of North Davis Highway and Abbie Lane.
The crash resulted in the driver, identified as a 45-year-old man from Pace, being declared dead at the scene.
One passenger, a 43-year-old woman from Pace, suffered critical injuries, while two other passengers, a 12-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl, sustained minor injuries.
Following investigations into the crash, Traffic Homicide investigators found that West was under the influence at the time of the crash, according to the release.
A warrant for DUI Manslaughter was obtained, though attempts to locate West were unsuccessful as she had reportedly “absconded to Miami.”
West will face the following charges in Escambia County, according to the release:
- 1 count of DUI Manslaughter
- 2 counts of DUI with injuries
- 1 count of driving with no license causing death
- 1 count of driving with no license causing bodily injury
- 1 count of vehicular homicide
- 1 count reckless causing serious bodily injury
She is currently awaiting extradition to Escambia County, Florida, the release notes.
