A Plantation house fire that left a beloved doctor dead is being investigated as a possible case of arson, sources with knowledge of the matter tell Local 10 News.
Dr. K R died after being pulled from the Dec. 5 fire at her home at 12350 NW 23rd Court in the Plantation Acres neighborhood.
R, who ran a family practice clinic in Weston, shared that home with her husband, fellow physician Dr. B M, an obstetrician-gynecologist in Plantation.
Police said M was not home as the fire spread throughout the house. Firefighters arrived and pulled R out from the second story, sources said.
Sources said a gas can was spotted on the scene that day.
R’s cause of death and toxicology results have not yet been revealed as the case pushes forward.
Friends and loved ones held a memorial for R on Friday.
Police have not said they are looking for any suspects and have described the case as a “death investigation,” rather than a criminal one, as of Monday.
