A Port Charlotte man was arrested after a deadly multi-vehicle crash on El Jobean Bridge in Charlotte County Wednesday night.
NA D, 45, was arrested and booked in the Charlotte County Jail, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene on El Jobean Bridge around 8:05 p.m.
Troopers said Dion was driving recklessly at a high rate of speed in southbound lanes on the bridge.
FHP said a second car, driven by a 64-year-old Port Charlotte woman, and a third car, driven by a 64-year-old Venice man, were also driving southbound ahead of D.
According to the release, the front of D’s car sideswiped the Port Charlotte woman’s vehicle before colliding with the rear of the Venice man’s car.
Troopers said the Venice man was pronounced dead on the scene.
After investigations, the release said D was arrested for vehicular homicide and DUI manslaughter.
Troopers said this is an ongoing investigation
