A house in Jay was destroyed during strong storms early Friday morning.
Two people inside at the time were thrown from the home on Watermill Road. They feel very lucky after suffering only minor injuries.
“They lost everything, so thank the lord they had just bumps and bruises,” said Mike Stout, father of the victims.
Jessica Nowling was in bed with her husband Matthew when the storm rolled in.
Stout says the couple was thrown out of the home.
“She said she was up watching the weather — has her phone in her hand,” Stout said. “And then all of a sudden they weren’t in their room anymore. …On the ground on that mattress, both of them were holding each other. …This house was taken from this spot right here, all the way over here.”
You can see where the steps to get into the house still stand.
“Thankful that they got out,” Stout said. “You can replace objects, but you can’t replace people. Once they’re gone, there’s no re-do. You can build all this back up again.”
Jessica and Matthew were both taken to the hospital to get checked out. We’re told they are expected to be okay.
The Nowlings have started a GoFundMe to help with the damages. You can access it here.
