School district employee accidentally shot during training at sheriff’s office range

A Palm Beach County School District employee was injured after the worker accidentally discharged their gun, the district confirmed.

The incident happened at the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) gun range during a civilian training exercise, the sheriff’s office and district reported.

The worker was wounded in the hip and taken to a local hospital for treatment, the statement continued. PBSO noted the injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Neither the school district and the sheriff’s office did not provide any details about how the gun went off, or if the individual or someone else was holding the gun at the time.
