A security guard was hospitalized on New Year’s Eve after being shot in downtown Tampa, according to police.
Around 10:45 p.m., Tampa police responded to Curtis Hixon Park, located in the 600 block of North Ashley Drive, after receiving reports of shots being fired.
Early investigation revealed that a Tampa Museum of Art security guard was removing a group of juveniles from the property when he was shot following an altercation.
The victim, who was identified as a man in his late 30s, said he heard a pop and felt pain in his chest and arm area. He was taken to a nearby hospital, and as of Wednesday morning, he is in stable condition.
The individuals involved fled on foot.
No further details were available. Tampa police are actively conducting an investigation.
