A 22-year-old St. Augustine man died Wednesday when he failed to stop at an intersection on County Road 248 in Suwannee County and traveled underneath a tractor-trailer.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the St. Augustine man was driving a 2022 Toyota Camry east on CR 248 at 11 a.m. when he failed to stop before entering the intersection onto Country Road 49 northeast of Branford. The Camry traveled underneath a tractor-trailer being driven by a 39-year-old Branford man.
Emergency responders pronounced the St. Augustine man dead on scene and a 20-year-old Lake City woman riding as a passenger in the Camry is in serious condition and was transported to UF Shands Hospital.
The Branford man driving the tractor-trailer was not injured.
