Suspect wanted after fleeing traffic stop, crash in LaBelle

The Hendry County Sheriff’s Office asked neighbors in LaBelle to stay in their homes while they attempted to track down a suspect after a crash Thursday night.

According to the sheriff’s office, K-9 units were attempting a traffic stop in the area of Sioux Ave and Cheyenne Avenue, when the driver of the suspect vehicle accelerated and crashed into two other vehicles at the end of Sioux Ave.

HCSO said an unidentified person ran from the vehicle into the woods.

People living in the area were asked not to interact with deputies or the K-9 units that were assisting.

At 10:20 p.m., HCSO said the search was called off despite being unable to locate the suspect.

If you have seen anything suspicious or have any knowledge of the suspect involved, contact the sheriff’s office at (863)674-5600.
