Palm Beach Fire Rescue (PBFR) wants to remind drivers to be careful when driving on wet roads.

On Wednesday, the agency responded after an SUV went off Duda Road and splashed down into a canal in the western part of the county. The driver was able to climb out one of the rear doors and did not need to go to the hospital, PBFR noted.

“Please remember wet roads and heavy rains can cause a decrease in your car’s handling and performance,” its post said.

PBFR urges all drivers to drive defensively, be alert, be aware, and be safe.

Rains poured down on the region Wednesday as a strong system blew through southern Florida. Heavy rains poured down on Palm Beach County, where this vehicle wrecked, while in Martin County, a tornado was spotted near Hobe Sound.
