Truck strikes, kills pedalcyclist in Dixie County

A pedalcyclist died early Tuesday morning when he was struck and killed while riding in Dixie County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the pedalcyclist, a 47-year-old Inglis man, the crash happened at 5:50 a.m. northeast of Cross City.

The man was traveling north on Highway 351, south of NE 326th Avenue, on the right paved shoulder when a truck, driven by a 62-year-old Cross City man, hit him.

The pedalcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The driver of the truck was uninjured. The FHP report did not note any citation or ongoing investigation into the matter.
