A man drove a pickup truck into a Cape Coral canal on Sunday morning.
According to the Cape Coral Police Department, the crash happened along Del Prado Boulevard and Kismet Parkway.
Tin Hill, who lives along the canal, heard the crash and jumped into the water to help get the driver out.
“Jumped in the water, got over to him and my main concern was just how many people are in the vehicle, are they breathing, is he okay?,” said Hill.
Street signs and a light pole were also damaged in the crash.
CCPD says the man was in his 30s had a medical episode and was taken to the hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown.
“One guy grabbed him underneath his shoulders, another grabbed his arms, me and another dude grabbed him by the legs and pulled him out,” explained Hill.
The police department states a dive team was in the water to hook up the car to a tow truck.
CCPD said the driver is expected to be okay.
