West Palm Beach deputy behind bars after sexual assault against woman

A West Palm Beach police officer was arrested and is being held on $341,000 bond.

On Wednesday, Deputy James Matthew Bush, 33, responded to a domestic dispute involving a man and woman near The Villages.

At the scene, Bush suggested that the man leave.

According to police, Bush then grabbed the arm of the woman and forced her up to her apartment to perform oral sex on him.

Later that day, the man returned back to the apartment and ended up calling police to place a restraining order on his girlfriend.

Bush and another deputy arrived to assist at the scene.

The victim confessed to the other deputy that Bush sexually assaulted her earlier that day.

Bush, who had been with West Palm Beach police since 2021, was relieved of duty and arrested July 12.

“When someone abuses their position of authority to commit a crime, we have an obligation to swiftly act in the best interest of the community we serve and hold those responsible who breach the public trust,” Chief Frank Adderley said.
