An argument between two sisters over bathroom usage escalated into one being hospitalized and the other being arrested on Monday, according to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Police Department.
Police said the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. when the victim reported that her sister, Cynthia Pierre, 20, became irate over her shower usage and started knocking on the bathroom door of the home near the 2100 block of Northeast 163rd Street, just east of Interstate 95.
The argument turned physical when police said the victim opened the door. The altercation then moved through various rooms of the residence, culminating in the kitchen where the victim grabbed a knife in self-defense, the report stated.
According to the victim, Pierre managed to wrestle the knife away and then stabbed her sister in the neck and forearms.
Despite the victim’s injuries, police said she was able to escape and call 911.
Authorities said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel transported the victim to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, where her condition is unknown at this time.
Police said they took Pierre into custody and transported her to the MDPD’s Intracoastal Station for questioning.
Although Pierre denied stabbing her sister after she was read her Miranda rights, authorities said she was arrested and taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. She faces a charge of aggravated child abuse causing great bodily harm.
Police did not disclose the victim’s age in the publicly released report.
Jail records show Pierre remains in TGK on a $7,500 bond as of Wednesday afternoon.
