Woman dies after crashing SUV into railroad gate

A 73-year-old Tampa woman died after a crash just after 2 a.m. Tuesday in Columbia County near Lake City.

The woman was headed west on US 90 near Llewellyn Avenue when her SUV veered off the road and hit a railroad gate and gate lever.

The railroad gate was not active at the time and no trains were in the area or affected by the crash.

The woman was taken to UF Health where she died. Officials say she was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
