A woman was taken into custody after driving her godson to a Jacksonville hospital with a gunshot wound early Tuesday morning.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a man in his early 20s arrived UF Health on Lane Avenue with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his arm.
JSO said the shooting happened at a home on Arques Road on the Westside. The man is believed to have been visiting home for the holidays.
“Our initial investigation determined the victim was inside of a residence in the 6900 block of Arques Road when the suspect shot him,” Sergeant Smith told the media. The woman then drove the victim to the hospital.
Smith said the man’s godmother was taken into custody and “all parties are cooperating at this time.”
