Authorities say they are investigating a police shooting that involved a Miami-Dade officer in Homestead.   The shooting happened off of N Krome Avenue and NW 2nd Street on Thursday night, officers at the scene said.  The investigation is also around the corner from a Homestead Police Department building. On Wednesday, the police department posted two pictures of an individual who was accused of jumping over a fence at St. Lucie Elementary School. A 61-year-old man is dead after crashing his pickup truck into a ditch Thursday afternoon in Arcadia. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a pickup truck was headed south on SE Hillsborough Avenue toward Hibiscus Drive. At around 1:53 p.m., the truck reportedly veered off the road and crashed into a mailbox before getting back on the road. The vehicle then drove into a ditch and overturned, ejecting the driver. A 14-year-old Orlando girl died Thursday after a tree fell on top of a car she was in, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
