An 82-year-old Tarpon Springs woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on US-19 Monday evening, troopers said. The Florida Highway Patrol said at 7:31 p.m., the woman was heading south on the highway when she tried to make a left turn onto Colonial Boulevard. However, as she turned, she got into the path of a BMW driven by a 17-year-old boy from Palm Harbor. Troopers said the woman was taken to a hospital for treatment but died of her injuries.

An 18-year-old woman was killed and four other teenagers were injured in a Hernando County crash late Monday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred shortly after 10 p.m. at the intersection of Tundra Drive and Brookridge Central Boulevard. A driver was charged with DUI after crashing into a Broward County business Tuesday night, authorities said. The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and smashed into a business on NW 31st Avenue, Lauderhill police said. According to FHP, a van driven by a 66-year-old man from Port Charlotte was traveling south on the center of US-41, south of Midway Boulevard, at around 11:27 p.m. on Tuesday. A drowning investigation was underway after a young boy who was pulled from a pool at a Fort Lauderdale home died Monday night. A man was hospitalized with severe burns after an explosion Tuesday at a Hallandale Beach gas station that was closed for an excavation project, officials said.
