A 24-year-old Lakeland man was killed after deputies said he drove off the roadway and crashed into a metal power pole. The collision happened just before 2 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Pipkin Road and Old Medulla Road, just south of Lakeland. One horse was killed and seven others were injured after a horseback riding center in Manatee County said a “devastating accident” caused its truck and trailer to flip over. The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Sid Hayes Road on Saturday.
