Police: Uncle arrested after 10-year-old accidentally shoots himself in Hialeah

A 33-year-old man was arrested Sunday by Hialeah police after the man’s nephew accidentally shot himself with his gun, authorities said. According to an arrest report, D J S Jr., of Miami, has temporary custody of the 10-year-old. Police said a Hialeah police officer was dispatched to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale Saturday night following the shooting. A suspected DUI driver was found passed out behind the wheel in downtown St. Petersburg with two young children in the car, according to an arrest report. St. Pete police found Lucaya Barlow, 37, unconscious with the car still in gear while stopped at a traffic light on Saturday.
