Lanes back open after big rig crash snarled traffic on State Road 429 in Apopka

Photo by WKMG ClickOrlando A crash involving a big rig forced southbound lanes to shut down on State Road 429 in Apopka early Thursday. Troopers were dispatched around 6 a.m. to the area of mile marker 29, south of Maitland Boulevard. All lanes had been reopened at the time of this report. According to Trooper Steve, drivers still wishing to avoid the scene can exit southbound S.R. 429 at State Road 414 and exit at Clarcona Road to detour themselves.

Lawncare worker dead after being hit by out-of-control car

A lawncare worker died Wednesday afternoon after a Jeep veered off Braddock Road and struck him. Around 2:50 p.m., a man in his early 20s was edging the sidewalk, when a teenager driving a Jeep lost control of the car and veered off the roadway, according to Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. The lawncare worker was pronounced dead at the scene. JSO says the driver of the Jeep stopped and is cooperating with investigators. Police said there were no indicators of impairment.
