Police took Kelly James Perpall into custody Tuesday on charges of attempted murder, armed kidnapping and home invasion robbery with a deadly weapon.  A 2-year-old boy was taken to the hospital in serious condition after being mauled by a family dog in Putnam County on Tuesday. The attack happened Tuesday at a home on South Street in Melrose. According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the owners of a 5-year-old dog named “Blueberry” told deputies the toddler was playing with the dog before the child was attacked. The state is seeking the death penalty against a man accused of stabbing a 13-year-old girl to death on the Fourth of July. Jerry Dorisme was indicted by a grand jury in August on charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping with intent to inflict bodily harm or terrorize, sexual battery, and attempted sexual battery in the death of Rose Diejuste. Prosecutors filed a notice of intent on Oct. 8 to seek the death penalty if Dorisme is found guilty of murder in the girl’s death.

A 31-year-old Jacksonville man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of 44-year-old Marcus Floyd in December 2023, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday. An 18-year-old man is sought in the fatal shooting last month of a 17-year-old boy in Orange County, according to sheriff’s officials. The shooting happened on Sept. 5 in the 1800 block of Americana Blvd. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Ja’Corey Latrieus Lowery, aka “Trap,” shot Arthy Cetoute, 17, who died at the hospital.
