A multi-car crash caused serious delays on Interstate 95 southbound before Ives Dairy Road. The collision happened before 6:30 a.m. and express lanes were closed, according to preliminary reports from Florida Highway Patrol. Traffic was backed up even past Hallandale Beach Boulevard and aerial images appeared to show traffic stopped across all lanes. As of 8 a.m., lanes have reopened and traffic is getting by slowly. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department tells First Coast News one person is dead following a house fire on Jacksonville’s Southside Thursday. JFRD says it got a call about the the fire which happened in the 5900 block of Loran Drive North around 5:40 a.m., and that the person who died in it is a man; he was found in a van by firefighters, according to JFRD Captain Eric Prosswimmer. A Florida Keys sheriff’s deputy was arrested by her employer on more than a dozen computer crimes charges Wednesday, officials said. Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jennifer Ann Ketcham, 40, faces 19 felony counts of of misuse of law enforcement computers, computer networks and electronic devices, MCSO spokesperson Adam Linhardt said in a brief news release Wednesday afternoon. “Ketcham used law enforcement databases to look up information for personal reasons beyond the legal scope of her employment as a Deputy,”

The Humane Society of Greater Miami is asking for the community’s help. On Wednesday, seven malnourished puppies were found abandoned on its shelter grounds in North Miami Beach. As staff members quickly worked to provide care, they discovered that each puppy tested positive for giardia and coccidia. The puppies are undergoing treatment.
