According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, officers smelled smoke while patrolling near Hendricks Avenue and Ridgeland Road. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that happened on State Road 520 in Christmas. The crash happened around 5 p.m. Tuesday in the eastbound lanes of SR-520 near SR-528. Troopers said the crash involved a 2023 Toyota Corolla and a 2019 Semi-truck with a trailer. FHP said the driver of the Corolla was transported to the hospital and was pronounced dead. A motorcyclist is dead after a crash in Brooskville Tuesday morning on US-41 at the CR-572 intersection, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. FHP says that the 40-year-old victim from Spring Hill was heading south on US-41 when a Chevy Silverado, driven by a Weeki Wachee man, turned into the path of the motorcyclist.
