Ex-Army officer from Cooper City gets prison for having child sex abuse videos.

A Broward County armed services veteran is facing jail time on some very serious charges. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 49-year-old Edgar Ali Cerda of Cooper City was sentenced to 42 months in federal prison followed by 15 years of supervised release following his conviction on child pornography charges. The Florida Highway Patrol is working to find the driver who hit a runner Wednesday morning. Troopers say the female was running in Santa Rosa Beach on Highway 98 in the apron of the road. UM student killed in crash while riding scooter to Coral Gables campus.

A student was killed earlier this week while heading to the University of Miami’s Coral Gables campus on his scooter. The university confirmed in an email to students and staff that Daniel Bishop died Monday following a traffic accident. Bishop, 22, who was a senior at UM, also graduated from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland and was a sophomore at the time of the 2018 Valentine’s Day massacre. While he excelled in school, he wasn’t just a student.

A man and woman are dead after a motorcycle crash in Deltona. According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, it happened on Tuesday around 6 p.m. in the area of Normandy Boulevard and Sullivan Street. The crash was reported outside the Flash Lube oil change service, which is located at 400 NE 13th St. Sky 10 was above the scene just after 11:45 a.m. as a blue car was rolled onto its side in between a pole and the outside of the business.
