A man is in critical condition after an incident at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in West Palm Beach on Monday. According to the West Palm Beach Police Department, an eight-foot long 2×4 fell from a church roof and hit the man in the head. According to Palm Harbor Fire Rescue, the fire occurred at a home on 13 Citrus Drive. When crews arrived, smoke was coming from all four sides of the home. A Marathon pastor is facing serious charges after being accused of giving a teenager alcohol and molesting her while she was unconscious. Monte Chitty, 62, a pastor at First Baptist Church, faces charges of sexual battery, lewd and lascivious behavior, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to jail records from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. An anonymous caller reported overhearing a girl telling another adult that she had been raped, deputies said Monday in a news release.

A woman was hit and killed in Manatee County on Saturday after she walked in front of an SUV, authorities said. The SUV, driven by a 61-year-old Bradenton man, was traveling northbound on 9 th Street East, north of 301 Boulevard East, at about 10:45 p.m. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the female pedestrian walked across the southbound lanes of 9 th Street East and into the path of the SUV. The SUV hit the woman north of the 301 Boulevard East intersection.

As a Miami Beach Police officer continues to recover in the hospital after, investigators said, he was accidentally shot by another officer on the Venetian Causeway, detectives shared further details about the incident. Detectives said the Miami Beach Police officers involved were responding to a “be on the lookout” from a neighboring agency of a possibly armed subject walking along the causeway, early Saturday afternoon. Jeremy Mohler, who is visiting South Florida for the weekend, said he saw the incident unfold just
