A shooting at a popular burger restaurant in Wynwood on Monday night left a man hurt and workers shaken up, according to police and witnesses at the scene.  A child is suffering from serious injuries after getting into a crash with a Sarasota police officer while riding a dirt bike. The Sarasota Police Department says it happened around 6:30 p.m. Monday evening in the area of 22nd Street and Maple Avenue. The child was taken to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital where they are currently being treated. The incident unfolded around 1:45 a.m. after firefighters responded to a structure fire on McLeod Drive. Firefighters arrived on the scene and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the garage and spreading into the main home, TFD said in a press release. A 39-year-old woman from Hialeah was arrested Sunday after police say her elderly mother accused her and her boyfriend of abuse. According to an arrest report from the Hialeah Police Department, the victim called 911 Sunday to report that her daughter, Maritza Mazaira, abuses her verbally and physically. Police said the victim claimed that Mazaira has repeatedly pushed her in order to enter her bedroom and ransack it, looking for valuables. At 93 years old, a man from Ocala faces two counts of attempted first-degree murder after Marion County Sheriff’s deputies say he tried to kill his wife, twice. According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the home of Helmut Lockner, 93, on reports of a domestic battery incident on Saturday. The victim, Lockner’s wife of 60 years, told deputies the couple were sitting in the living room watching TV. Lockner complained of pain and said he wanted to die.

The West Palm Beach Police Department announced Monday a woman has died, weeks after getting hit by a vehicle. The police department said Rachal Michelle Santamaria, 47, was struck by an SUV on the 2000 block of Okeechobee Boulevard the night of Oct. 5. The Florida Highway Patrol says one person is dead after a truck struck a light pole on I-75 northbound near Golden Gate Parkway in Collier County.
