Volusia sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man after they said they discovered four neglected horses on his property, two of which were critically ill and had to be put down. Wayne Prevatt, 65, of Seville, faces multiple counts, including two felony charges of animal cruelty. The Florida Highway Patrol said at around 5:33 p.m., a 54-year-old man from Lutz was driving his Ford F-150 down the Selmon Expressway when he suffered the ppisode west of 21st Street. In an incident report released on Tuesday, FWC officials said they received a call about an injured bear near Foxden Road on June 6. Investigators said they arrived at the scene around 11 p.m., finding the bear’s body but without any immediately obvious cause of death.

An 18-year-old man who was arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy in Florida City appeared before a judge. Jeron Smith was charged with second-degree murder after, Miami-Dade Police said, he confessed to shooting and killing Damarion Bailey. During his court appearance on Monday, a judge denied Smith bond.
