A 58-year-old Orlando man died after being struck Friday night while walking on South Orange Blossom Trail in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 8:49 p.m. in the center northbound lane, north of Americana Boulevard, troopers said.
According to an FHP crash report, the pedestrian was walking in an easterly direction from the raised grass median — not in a marked crosswalk — when he entered the direct path of an SUV.
The front of the SUV then struck the man, who was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, troopers said. The 36-year-old Orlando man driving the SUV was not injured and remained on scene, the report states.
FHP is still investigating.
