MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) – Tragedy struck on I-75 in Manatee County as a 50-year-old man lost his life in a devastating crash. The incident unfolded when the motorcyclist collided with a deer and was subsequently struck by an FHP vehicle.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, October 24, around 9 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the interstate near mile marker 232. The motorcyclist’s collision with a deer resulted in him being thrown from the bike. The motorcycle came to rest in the southbound travel lanes, while the deer landed on the right shoulder. The motorcyclist was thrown onto the left shoulder.
In a tragic turn of events, a second vehicle, approaching the crash scene on southbound Interstate 75, collided with the downed motorcycle. Further compounding the tragedy, a marked Florida Highway Patrol Vehicle, also approaching the crash scene on southbound Interstate 75, entered the left paved shoulder and collided with the motorcyclist who was lying on the ground.
Regrettably, the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene, marking a somber conclusion to the incident.
