Man struck, killed in South Daytona

A man was struck and killed Sunday night in South Daytona, according to the police department. The crash happened around 10:37 p.m. in the 1900 block of S. Ridgewood Ave. According to the South Daytona Police Department, Tommy L. Cox was hit by a vehicle and taken to Halifax Hospital, where he died. The department said it does not suspect foul play or impaired driving in the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at 386-322-3030.

Former big-league shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt, who appeared in parts of nine MLB seasons, is facing up to 10 years in prison if he’s convicted following an arrest last week in Miami-Dade County on several charges.
