A 21-year-old Arcadia woman pleaded no contest this week to attempted murder charges stemming from a 2021 shooting, court records show. Alexa Biviana Avilez was 18-years-old when she was arrested on July 20, 2021. She was originally charged with four counts of attempted murder. Victor Cervantes, 17 at the time, was also arrested in connection to the shooting, which happened July 17, 2021. DeSoto County authorities reported Cervantes shot into a vehicle near S.W. A man is now sitting behind bars for leading deputies on a chase with a stolen car. During the chase he crashed into three cars including intentionally hitting a sheriff’s vehicle. Sarasota County Deputies say Taron Sanders rammed into a car in an effort to get away, and then put his car in reverse, slamming into an officer’s car behind him.
