Pedestrian pronounced dead at hospital after struck by car in Leesburg.

A pedestrian was pronounced dead early Wednesday morning at UF Health-Leesburg Hospital after he was struck by an automobile. The 55-year-old man was walking at about 6:30 a.m. in the eastbound lane of Griffin Road, west of Pioneer Trail, when he was struck by a 2020 Volkswagen Passat driven by a 63-year-old Leesburg man who also had been eastbound on Griffin Road, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. Raleigh father charged with murder in 5-year-old son’s death, family said boy was ‘beaten all over’

A Raleigh man has been charged with the murder of his 5-year-old son. Police officers on Sunday night responded to a report of a child assault at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, where the boy was being treated. According to an arrest warrant, the boy, Karter Holloway, was abused so badly that it caused the child’s brain to hemorrhage.
