A school crossing guard is recovering from injuries after being hit by a car on Thursday morning, Largo police said. According to investigators, a Chrysler 300 hit the crossing guard shortly after 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of 8th Ave NW and Clearwater Largo Rd. Florida 511 reported the wreck happened in the southbound lanes shortly after 8 a.m., just past the State Road-882/Forest Hill Boulevard interchange. As of 8:45 a.m., two left lanes remained blocked. The 511 map showed considerable delays on I-95 South stretching all the way to Okeechobee Boulevard, although it is not clear if all the delays are related to the crash.

A man from Gainesville is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Alachua Wednesday evening.
