The park is located at 7422 S. Flagler Drive, about 1 1/2 miles south of the Southern Boulevard bridge. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. about 200 yards from the shore, Battalion Chief Estefan Villalobos told WPBF.

The initial crash occurred around 11:55 p.m. near Northwest 135th Street and Northwest 57th Avenue, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. Investigators said a vehicle struck a tree and caught fire. They said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews extinguished the flames and pronounced the male driver, who has not been identified, dead at the scene.

 A tractor trailer overturned in Sunrise, shutting down a lane of traffic as crews attempted to remove the vehicle, according to officials from the Sunrise Police department. The accident shut down the exit ramp from the Sawgrass expressway to West Sunrise Boulevard. The driver suffered minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital.
